Beginner course

Grades 7 – 9

Piece count: 36
Ages: 13+

Overview

The Beginner course for Grades 7 – 9 starts with an introduction to Arduino and fundamentals of circuit theory, where learners will learn about sensors, processing real-world data, and automation. Learners will be able to transfer and test their knowledge and skills by building engineering-based projects such as:

  • An automated hand sanitiser: learners will learn how to install an infrared sensor which is used to detect a hand, after which electronic circuitry (such as relays and buck converters) are used to control the water pump to release a few drops of sanitiser onto the hand.
  • A home automation system: learners can challenge themselves by applying their programming and engineering skills to design and build a home automation system that automates everyday tasks. Learn about servo motors, temperature and infrared sensors, fans, buzzers, lighting, and security systems.
  • Learners will conclude the course by learning the fundamentals of Python game development and building games such as tic tac-toe, tennis, and hangman.

What’s covered?

Arduino and fundamentals of circuit theory

Automated hand sanitiser

Home automation system

Python fundamentals and game development

How does it work?

As an educator, you do not need to know anything about Robotics to get started.
Optimi Classroom provides training to teachers and facilitators on how to teach Robotics.

You also have two versions of Robotics to choose from depending on how much support you and your learners need.
Please see the table below for the differences between the standard and premium versions.

Standard

  • Robotics kit
  • Online learning platform: video-based learning
  • Support

Premium

  • Robotics kit
  • Online learning platform: video-based learning
  • Live chat functionality with a facilitator (instant support)
  • Weekly online classes
  • Opportunity to enter competitions
  • Certificate of completion

Please note: Fees for both versions are payable in full.
The estimated delivery time for the course materials is four to six weeks.
