Adept course

Grades 6 & 7

Piece count: 25
Ages: 10+

Overview

The Adept course for Grades 6 and 7 begins by familiarising learners with the fundamentals of block-based coding in the Scratch environment. This will be followed by:

  • TinkerCad: in this course, learners will be exposed to the concept of simulation to better understand how electronic circuit components work. This will allow learners to transition from block-based coding to text-based coding.
  • Arduino and fundamentals of circuit theory: learners will continue to build their knowledge in a practical setting by learning the rules of electronic circuits and working with hardware. The course also teaches learners about Arduino coding, which is an industry-relevant skill.
  • Smart Garden: learners will be exposed to an engineering-based project where they will challenge their critical thinking skills to design their very own smart garden by applying the practical and theoretical concepts they have learned in the previous courses. The garden will use a moisture sensor to detect whether the plant needs more water and/or sunlight.

What’s covered?

Scratch programming: game development

How does it work?

As an educator, you do not need to know anything about Robotics to get started.
Optimi Classroom provides training to teachers and facilitators on how to teach Robotics.

You also have two versions of Robotics to choose from depending on how much support you and your learners need.
Please see the table below for the differences between the standard and premium versions.

Standard

  • Robotics kit
  • Online learning platform: video-based learning
  • Support

Premium

  • Robotics kit
  • Online learning platform: video-based learning
  • Live chat functionality with a facilitator (instant support)
  • Weekly online classes
  • Opportunity to enter competitions
  • Certificate of completion

Please note: Fees for both versions are payable in full.
The estimated delivery time for the course materials is four to six weeks.
